Final Illustration for Resurgence and Ecologist article
I did not like my final Illustration for this article because I thought it was a little too simplistic and felt like it wasn't up to the expectations I had hoped for.
After some thought I decided to change my article because I felt like I couldn't get a good feel for the story of the article and it just seemed to simplistic in my eyes. I felt that with a different article I would be able to achieve something more hand rendered based, in doing so I researched further in the Resurgence and Ecologist article, and decided I wanted to use watercolours. I did some experiments with the paints.
After experimenting with watercolours, I realised I didn't have much control with watercolours, I then moved over to trying acrylic, in doing so I found it was a lot easier to control. I then proceeded to created an object I could work with and experiment on (Diamond shape.)
After doing a rough sketch with the shape chosen, I took forward the idea of using acrylic, I then started to create an almost sky look to it, as I was using tissue to create a different texture on the background, I started using a midnight blue as the base coloured, after that had dried, I started using a lighter sky blue, light dabbing on the page, after that had dried I then began to take an even lighter colour (Arctic White) and dabbed that in the corners of the shape.
My final Illustration is of a weighing scale balancing money on one side and the Earth on the other. I decided to create something like this because reading through the article it gave me the idea of having an argument happening, I didn't want to use it as a fist fight, as I thought this was too graphic, although I found the idea of having the illustration being balanced was a good idea, as normally some arguments are balanced out between opinions, I thought weighing scales was the best way to show this.
I used the same texture and idea as what I did with the planets, after they had dried I then went around the inside of the planets, using a slight hint of white, and then flicking the paint brush not only on the planets but also on the background to create the illusion of space.
The reason I did this was to try and show that the argument that is happening depends on not only the Earth but the universe as this fight effects everyone.

I was pleased with how my final illustration turned out for this article because the article explains how there will always be arguments between the Earth and Economics, I feel as if I portrayed this well through my final illustration, showing that the two are trying to balance each other out.
