Final Illustration for Dancer Article

This is how my final illustration ended up, I am pleased with the outcome because I feel that I have showed the main points in the article through my illustration, for example, and I quote 'sprained ankles, pulled hamstrings, back problems, neck problems and shoulder problems' this made me think about how I could show these problems through my work. I decided to take those quotes and create something that could clearly show it without making the illustration seem too graphic, as with previous thumbnails I did think they were a little graphic which is why I decided to not take them forward. I made her limbs curl around the way they have because I wanted to show how much effort it takes to be a dancer, I also wanted the image to flow well.
I wanted to stick with the theme of complimentary colours to make the image more dramatic, I chose these particular colours to show that the dancer represents an emotion of sadness, I felt the best way to show this was to use colder colours, hence why I chose blue. Orange was chosen because I felt it worked well with the theme of being a performing dancer, it represents the stage lighting for a stage.
I then used white around the dancer to make her seem more radiant and to make her the focal point on the page.

Final Illustration for 'To Kill A Mockingbird'

To end this project on book covers, I have created 2 book covers for 'Penguin Books' on ' To Kill A Mockingbird,' one is digitally done, and the other is hand-rendered, using inks, pens and paints. My first Illustrated book cover was a digital copy, using photoshop and the elects on the programme provided. The reason I used the 'dripped blood' was because while reading about the story and the court case, I thought about the year it was set (1960) so I wanted to keep the simplistic Black and White colours, to highlight the fact the movie as well as the book is more vintage than up to date. I created this piece in photoshop using the paint tool to drip the blood (background) down 3/4 of the page. I then thought about what would be my main Illustration on the front. Birthday Illustration

After having projects, and other assignments through the holidays, I had a family members birthday (to be exact my mum.) I decided to take a break from doing other projects and focus on something sentimental, so I recreated one of her favourite quotes, as well as trying to do digital art. (Which I still need practise with.)

Summary of this module.

Throughout this module we've been given a variety of different projects to create Editorial Illustrations for. This module for me was challenging and really made me come out of my comfort, on the other hand this wasn't so bad as I learned new techniques and styles for my work in future.
