Final Illustration for 'To Kill A Mockingbird'

To end this project on book covers, I have created 2 book covers for 'Penguin Books' on ' To Kill A Mockingbird,' one is digitally done, and the other is hand-rendered, using inks, pens and paints. My first Illustrated book cover was a digital copy, using photoshop and the elects on the programme provided. The reason I used the 'dripped blood' was because while reading about the story and the court case, I thought about the year it was set (1960) so I wanted to keep the simplistic Black and White colours, to highlight the fact the movie as well as the book is more vintage than up to date. I created this piece in photoshop using the paint tool to drip the blood (background) down 3/4 of the page. I then thought about what would be my main Illustration on the front. At first I wanted the blood to drip from the mockingbird, but thought this would take away the main Illustration of the cover as the background is already dripping.  I then sketched up a rough dra...

New brief for 2 different books covers

For our next brief we have been asked to do a book cover for the books given to us, it is our decision to do both or one, but our tutor clearly explained that he would like more than one final book cover. The 2 books given to us were ' How To Kill A Mockingbird ' and ' Adrian Mole .' (The links to both the books are below.) Before making my decision on which book cover I should create a front cover for, I chose to look into book covers.
